The word School (atelier) in combination with a proper name of an outstanding artist, for example Triscorni, Rodin, Bourdelle, Matveev, Burganov become stable terms in the art historical practice and identification marks in the spaces of national cultures. In this capacity: atelier as a school, the pledge of not only recognition of the master’s creative handwriting, but also the adoption of the community of his status as a standard of cultural space and identity. Undoubtedly, Burganov created his own school, bearing special markings of his personal style.
For almost half a century period of teaching, A.N. Burganov educated a galaxy of outstanding artists and sculptors, including People’s and Honoured Artist of Russia, academicians, winners of international and Russian state awards.
Alexander Burganov formed a special direction in the national monumental art, generally accepted by his many students, followers and art historians as “Burganov’s school of composition”.
The exhibition will feature works by prominent sculptors – A.N. Burganov’s students: S. Shcherbakov, A. Kovalchuk, V. Buynacheva, V. Korneev, T. Kalenkova, A. Tsigal, etc.
